As Peter Capaldi gets ready to say goodbye to being Doctor Who, his Time Lord will meet with one of the oldest villains in the series, Mondasian Cybermen.
In a new image shared on the official social media accounts of the show, Capaldi is seen trapped among the aliens from the planet Mondas who made their debut back in 1966 in William Hartnell's final Doctor Who story, 'The Tenth Planet.'
Guess who's back!

It's the original Mondasian Cybermen, returning for eps 11 & 12 of the new series!https://t.co/F6G9YQrVCb#DoctorWho pic.twitter.com/fOchIo4KaY
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly two years ago, Capaldi had expressed the wish to work in episodes featuring Axons or the first version of Cybermen. Guess this is showrunner Steven Moffat's parting gift to Capaldi as Moffat himself gets ready to step down.
The creepy first version of the aliens was a bizarre mix of flesh and metal. Over the years, the Cybermen evolved to look like the current versions which closely resembles the current Iron Man suits. Not much of flair, though.
The villains will be the baddies in the two-part finale, directed by Rachel Talalay, of the tenth season of 2005 revival of the show.
While Steven Moffat will hand over the show to Broadchurch showrunner Chris Chibnall, BBC is yet to finalise the actor/actress who will take over from Capaldi.
Who do you think should be the next Doctor?
