Actor Sarath Kumar called for a press meet on Monday evening after his defeat in the recent Nadigar Sangam elections on Sunday, October 18. The outgoing Nadigar Sangam president was emotional when he spoke to the media stating that he had given 33 years of his life to the Tamil film industry.

At the press meet, Sarath Kumar declared that the lease deal SPI Cinemas had entered into with the Nadigar Sangam stands cancelled as of September 29. He said that he himself had called SPI Cinemas and cancelled the deal and showed a document to the media. However, he didn’t allow the media to read the document and said that actor Ramki would share it at a later time.

The actor and politician also stated that he was deeply hurt by the charges levelled against him by Vishal and the other members of the Pandavar Ani who have now assumed office. He said, “This agreement with SPI Cinemas is beneficial to the Nadigar Sangam.”

But dna has learnt from sources that the lease deal with Nadigar Sangam has actually not been cancelled. Apparently, some conditions have been set and only if these conditions are met does the deal between Nadigar Sangam and SPI Cinemas stand cancelled. The conditions have been spelt out in the document but what these conditions are has not been made public knowledge. Thus, as of now, sources say the deal is not cancelled.

The decision taken by the new office-bearers on this agreement will decide whether the lease deal is truly cancelled, add sources. Why Sarath Kumar did not show the document to anyone before the Nadigar Sangam elections is anyone's guess.
