The popular reality show Bigg Boss has always been an hourly saga for the last nine years of its appearance on TV. Even, Salman Khan's weekend episodes had the viewers glued to their TVs for at least an hour. With around 50 minutes of edited footages accompanied with ten-twelve minutes of ad-slot, the show has never seen a change in its run time.

However, for the past three days, Bigg Boss 9 has been witnessing a cut in its run time. The audience is now able to view the show for only 45-50 minutes, including the slot for advertisements, which leaves the fans with around 35-38 minutes of footage from the house. What has made the makers take such a step, we wonder?

If rumours are to be believed, low TRP's could be the reason be behind this move. Apparently, the show has been bringing in many new contestants as wild card entries in spite of having a good number of housemates inside.

However, it is also being said that the feedback given by the watchers of this show is going from bad to worse. Are the present contestants in the show not being able to generate enough entertainment to keep it going? Or is it because, the audience is getting fed up with the format and wants to see something new?

The BARC ratings which came out on Friday are a testimony to this. As per the results, the Bigg Boss 9 daily has seen a dip in its Television Rating points (TRPs) from 2 to 1.3 in the current week. To add to this is the newly introduced show on Colors, Naagin, whose repeat comes immediately after Bigg Boss 9 ends, has gained the highest TRPs (5.2). So is this a promotional gimmick by the channel to give more attention to the show?

All said and done, we may just see the show getting back to its original length time. Till then, hoping to get some more masala from this double trouble season.
