Akshay Kumar has emerged as the clear winner in the first half of 2015 with both his solo releases, Baby and Gabbar is back faring very well at the box-office. The actor was a hit in his action avatar and has triumphed over others like Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh and Amitabh Bachchan. The Khan trio didn't have a single release in the first half as Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan is set to release on July 17. As we await for the second half to unfold, let's take a look at the top 5 heroes of the first half of 2015…

Number 1: Akshay Kumar
Films: Baby and Gabbar Is Back

Money made: Rs 95.56 crore and Rs 87.52 crore respectively = Rs 183.08 crore.
Akshay Kumar's action thriller Baby was the first one to actually impress the audience and critic alike in the first half of 2015. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film had a good run at the box office despite not being a solo release. Twinkle Khanna's hubby dearest had one more release which was Gabbar Is Back and this one fared well too thus helping Akki grab the no.1 position. Amul Mohan, trade analyst says, "Akshay Kumar is the clear winner in the first half of 2015. He had two big films riding solely on his shoulders and both have done well. His producers have earned money and the figures show on the box-office as well."

Number 2: Varun Dhawan
Films: Badlapur and ABCD 2

Money made: Rs 50.07 crore and Rs 93.34 crore (and counting) = Rs 143.41 crore
With Sriram Raghavan's Badlapur, Varun broke his chocolate boy image and earned critical acclaim. And with his latest release ABCD 2 the talented actor has got cash registers jingling and how! Also, Remo D'Souza directorial is going to be VD's first Rs 100 crore film. No wonder, Jr Dhawan is one of the 5 top heroes this year. "Varun has turned out to be one of the most bankable young stars. He has had a great run at the box-office and deserves to be on the second position," says Amul.

Number 3: Amitabh Bachchan
Films: Shamitabh and Piku

Money made: Rs 22.46 crore and Rs 79.92 crore = Rs 102.38 crore
Like Akki and Varun, even Sr Bachchan had two releases in the first half of 2015. While Shamitabh co-starring Dhanush didn't manage to rake in big moolah, Shoojit Sircar's Piku on the other hand impressed the audience big time. And thus Big B has managed to grab the no. 3 position on the list.

Number 4 :R Madhavan
Film: Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Money made: Rs 149.39 crore
Surprise, surprise. R Madhavan has also found place on this list. In fact, the actor has grabbed the fourth spot courtesy Tanu Weds Manu Returns which has fared very well at the box office. The romantic comedy is the highest grossing film of this year up till now.

Number 5: Ranveer Singh
Film: Dil Dhadakne Do

Money made:Rs 76.38 crore
Deepika Padukone's beau is at 5th position. The actor was seen in Zoya Akhtar's multi-starrer Dil Dhadakne Do which was was touted as the most stylish film of the year. While DDD was expected to create dhoom at the BO, the eccentric drama didn't witness an earth shattering opening. But nonetheless, Zoya's film fared well at the BO and that's the reason why Ranveer has ended up in this list.
