A hottie for a teacher

Pallavi Walia Raj, Gladrags Mrs India 2005 1st runner-up title winner, is now all set to walk on a different kind of ramp — one between a blackboard and rows of desks.

She will soon conduct sessions in oral communications with management students of the SP Jain Institute of Management on its Singapore campus. “I’m excited because it reaffirms my credibility as a communications professional and helps me to broaden my horizons,” says Pallavi.

The Gladrags’ ‘best model’ has just returned from the institute’s Dubai campus where she conducted a refresher course with students. Pallavi says, “Management students are intelligent but they lack the necessary skills to present themselves in campus interviews. In my sessions I train then in verbal communication, body language, tackling interviews etc.”

In her earlier avatar, Pallavi’s taken on various roles — from being a RJ on All India Radio and a VJ with Channel [V] and Zee Music, to being an actor, voice over artist and a professional host.

According to Pallavi, the win at Gladrags Mrs India opened up a whole new world. “It’s given me the courage to try out new things,” she says.

Pallavi plans to soon start her venture, something on the lines of a finishing school. Ultimately, as she puts it, “Each one of us must aim for better and bigger things.”
