The family members of the Class 9 girl, who allegedly committed suicide at her house owing to sexual harassment and criticism, have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him for justice for their daughter.
In the letter, the family has mentioned the name of the teachers, Rajesh Sehgal and Neeraj Anand, who physically and mentally tortured their daughter. The parents have mentioned that Sehgal used to harass their daughter and when she tried to speak out, Sehgal and Anand deliberately failed her in the exams because of which on March 20, she hung herself to death.
The family also mentioned Modi government’s scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and said their daughter neither got to learn nor got to live in this world. The family of the victim has asked for a CBI probe into the matter because they believe the UP Police and the school administration will favour the teachers.
The father of the victim has represented India as a Kathak dancer in 55 countries and even his daughter was a national level dancer. The whole family is the disciple of Kathak king Pandit Birju Maharaj, the letter says.
Maharaj had said that the girl was not only his student but one of the rising stars of the country, who India lost.
Last Wednesday, the Class 9 girl of a private school in Mayur Vihar, was found hanging at her Noida sector 52 residence. Her parents alleged that the school teachers had sexually harassed her and deliberately failed her in the annual exams.
Noida Police had filed an FIR against the two teachers and the principal under IPC 306 (abetment to suicide), 354 (sexual harassment), 506 (for criminal intimidation) and under the POCSO Act.
