PM Narendra Modi lauds eunuch for cleanliness drive in riot-hit East Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the efforts of Laila Shah, a resident of the riot-hit Trilokpuri area of the national capital, for her efforts in cleaning her neighbourhood in the aftermath of the disturbance.

"Good effort by Laila Shah &her friends towards Clean India.Such efforts are a big strength for Swachh Bharat Mission!" the Prime Minister tweeted.

According to reports, Shah, who is a eunuch, was inspired by Prime Minister Modi's call for a clean India and started collecting shards of broken glass and bricks after the clashes in her area. On Diwali, a clash between two groups of people in Trilokpuri led to the police imposing imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, banning the gathering of more than four people.
