In order to promote e-governance and reduce corruption, North Delhi Municipal Corporation has launched a new website using which the residents can get their names electronically changed in the property tax records and/or apply for mutation.
The application would soon be linked with the social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for user interaction. Therefore, it would help more people to keep a tab on the policies, plans and functioning of the civic body.
"The corporation aims at becoming financially self-reliant and set an example of good governance. This application is a step in the digitisation program by the corporation to maintain electronic records and widen its tax base," said North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor, Preeti Aggarwal.
The application would reduce human interaction as everything will go online thus lowering corruption among the MCD staff. All the digitised and scanned data on the MCD online system would be synchronised thus helping the taxpayer further.
"The idea is to make the platform user friendly for which improved appearance and simplicity were prioritised along with links to various other websites and contact numbers of concerned people have also been provided," said Praveen Gupta, Municipal Commissioner.
