A car was badly damaged on Sunday after a chunk of plaster fell from a balcony on the eighth floor of a building at a housing society in Sector 77..

The residents said that the plaster may have fallen because of the heavy rains in past few days. "A few minutes after the storm started, a portion of the plaster from on the car," a resident said.

Monika Jain, the owner of the car said that she came to know about the incident through other residents.

"The car was parked in the parking area. I also made a complaint to the developer's officials," she added.

The residents complained that the developer had used poor quality construction materials. They also alleged that the builder and the maintenance team do not listen to their problems.

Another resident Amit Gupta said that this is not the first incident of its kind in the society.

"There have been other instances when the plaster fell on the green areas and parking area. Fortunately, there was no harm to the people. But, today, a vehicle got damaged. People are concerned about their safety after the incident," he added.

Gupta further said that the residents made several complaints to the Noida Authority and asked them to visit the society to check the construction material used by the developer.

He also said there have been many places where moisture can be easily spotted. He added that the moisture can easily collapse the walls.

The residents questioned Noida Authority's decision to give completion and occupancy certificates without a physical inspection.

SK Mittal, vice-president of builder group said that the car was wrongly parked.

He said, "At the time of monsoon, there are many buildings which have collapsed but here only a chunk of plaster has fallen. Hence, it is not a big issue. The maintenance team has done the repair work. We are doing repair work wherever we spot moisture on the walls. It is a continuous process, so it will take time," Mittal added.

"If the car owner wants any help in claiming the insurance, we are ready to help her. However, we will not bear the repairing cost," Mittal said.

It is to be noted that there have been several incidents of building collapses in recent times at Delhi-NCR. The incidents of building collapses were reported from Shahberi, Ghaziabad and Dwarka.
