Wall at Rajiv chowk metro station will exhibit the contribution of Nobel laureates to the society
Delhiites will have a week-long opportunity to know about the Indian Nobel laureates with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) inaugurating the Nobel Memorial Wall at the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.
On November 7, the wall, initiated in association with the Embassy of Sweden, will exhibit the contribution of these laureates to the society.
The one-of-its-kind wall will exhibit paintings by students from fine art colleges in Delhi-NCR. Portraits of Rabindranath Tagore, CV Raman, Hargobind Khorana, Mother Teresa, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Amartya Sen, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan and Kailash Satyarthi were selected to be showcased through a painting competition conducted by the embassy.
The wall was unveiled by Anna Ekström, Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education and Training, Government of Sweden and Dr Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC.
Speaking on the occasion, Ekström said,"I feel honoured to inaugurate the Nobel Memorial Wall. From the first non-European Nobel laureate, Tagore, as well as the first non-European science laureate CV Raman, to a modern-day fighter for children's rights, Satyarthi, the remarkable contributions of Indian Nobel laureates have inspired many across the world."
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr Mangu Singh, said: "The inauguration of the Nobel Memorial Wall at Rajiv Chowk Metro station has become a tradition to mark the beginning of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week. This is the seventh year in a row that the wall is displayed at the Rajiv Chowk station.
