A 31-year-old man has been arrested for posing as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in south-west Delhi's Dwarka area. The accused, identified as Vimal Bhatt, told police that he was a 2010-batch officer and was currently posted at the CGO complex.

According to police, Bhatt came to the Dwarka (South) police station on Sunday and started questioning the officers about a resident of Dwarka. He told police officers that he was investigating a money laundering case, lodged on the basis of a complaint by Pankaj Jain, a resident of Janakpuri. He then told the cops that he was looking for Santosh Kumar, a resident of Dwarka.

Bhatt also had an Uttar Pradesh registered Scorpio car, with a police sticker on both front and rear windows, and also on the number plate. The vehicle was fitted with a siren and loud hailer.

The police officers, however, found Bhatt's body language and demeanour suspicious. Investigation revealed that he was carrying a fake identity card. His search revealed that he was carrying a wireless set. Cops said he might even be involved in a fake mark sheet case.
