Hizbul Militant Ansar-Ul- Haqe who was wanted in the murder case of a sub-inspector of the CID unit was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on Tuesday. Special Cell sleuths arrested him in the early hours on Tuesday from the Indira Gandhi International Airport when he landed from Bengaluru. Ansar was to leave for Srinagar but was caught by the police.

Investigating officials stated that Ansar-Ul-Haqe was changing his hideouts and was hiding in Mumbai after which he moved to Bengaluru. Acting on a specific input the accused was nabbed from the T3 terminal of IGI Airport.

28-year old Ansar Ul Haqe hails from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.

Accused Ansar-Ul-Haqe is a post graduate in English. He has one brother and two sisters who are married. Ansar had recently married in August.

On October 28, a bullet-ridden body of a 30-year-old intelligence officer Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir was found in Chewa Kalan area, Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir. Mir, a resident of Pulwama, was working with the CID Department and was on his way home when he was abducted by the terrorists and later killed.

Ansar-Ul-Haqe was a political worker and later was motivated by a local terrorist Wajid after which he came in contact with with terrorist organization Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. He was in regular contact with other HM terrorist namely Liyakat, Shau Cable, Shahid Ahmad Baba, Zahid Tiger, Zahur. He used to pass information to the militants about the movements of security forces and local police officers.

"It was Zahur Thokar who had directed him to provide movement details of Mir of CID Branch of J&K Police. Ansar's girlfriend Syed Saika who was acquaintance with Mir was tasked to inform Ansar about the cop's movement," said Pramod Singh Kushwah, DCP, Special Cell.

As per plan on the day of the incident Ansar dropped Saika at Amar Singh College in Srinagar and asked to call Mir and later. She requested him to drop her enroute to Pulwama. The details of the route were passed onto Ansar who was waiting at the in his I-10 car at Chattargam Petrol Pump. After crossing of Karimabad, militants intercepted the I-10 Grand Silver car of Mir and later killed him.

Mir was a 2010 batch officer was the son of a retired police officer. He had served in Ganderbal District of South Kashmir for five years before being transferred to Kulgam district last year. He was shifted to the CID department in March this year and his superiors recalled his dedication towards his work. He was warned against venturing into his village as there was a possibility of attack by militant groups, who have been targeting policemen in the state recently.
