Health ministry lauds achievers in the field of Maternal Mortality Ratio reduction

The Union ministry of health and family welfare (HWF) organised an event for awarding achievers for the Reduction in MMR and the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) 'I Pledge For 9' on June 29 in the national Capital.

Union Minister JP Nadda along with health ministers of states, among others were present at the event.

"The PMSMA programme is huge and deals with lakhs of people and organizations and at the same time, they are very sensitive. So, even if we get one single failure, it becomes the face of the programme. Still, we are making our best to make PMSMA a success," said Nadda after releasing the Hall of Fame and Find Your Nearest PMSMA Facility — Mobile App which helps in locating the nearest health service. He also introduced several stats and new policies for the improvement in the health sector. NITI Aayog member Vinod Paul said "Ten states achieved a one-third reduction in MMR and the whole management takes pride of it. We are completely committed to making a change to form a new India as proposed by the Prime Minister".

The first category was the State awards for Maternal Mortality Ratio Reduction for states who have achieved a significant decline in MMR which was delivered to Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, Maximum Proportion of Pregnant women reaching PMSMA delivered to UP, Uttarakhand, Kerala, MP and Chattisgarh. The next category was the individual award for Providing services to Maximum Number of Pregnant women and Providing exemplary Services under PMSMA( State Nomination).
