Extortionist poses as underworld don, nabbed

Delhi Police's Crime Branch arrested an extortionist from the remote area of Madhya Pradesh, who used to impersonate as an underworld don Rizwan Khan, and had been demanding over Rs Five crore from several businessmen in Delhi and other parts of country.

Police said accused Pranay Tiwari, 27, a resident of Rewa, earlier used to work at a mall in Vasant Kunj where he used to get feedback forms filled by visitors and later in his extortion messages that he sent, he would use personal information.

DCP Crime Branch, Rajesh Deo, said that on August 28, a complaint was received who got a call from someone introducing himself as underworld don Rizwan Khan and demanded Rs 1 crore from him.

"A detailed study revealed that the extortionist was based in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. He was contacted and asked to take delivery of money on behalf of the complainant. Following the trap, during the early hours on Monday, the police team arrested him," Deo said.
