As the mercury level starts to rise, Delhi's summer has started to take a toll on the wildlife in the city. With the increasing complaints of animal and birds suffering from dehydration, the Wildlife SOS, an organisation that works for the welfare of wildlife, has rescued a juvenile Shikra from Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) premises, located next to Safdarjung Railway Station in Moti Bagh.

The staff of the RLDA called the Wildlife SOS to get help the suffering bird. It was rescued and taken by Wildlife SOS to monitor its condition and once the bird is fully recovered, it will be released into the wild.

"A large number of the avian population in New Delhi is falling prey to the rising temperature due to dehydration, heat exhaustion and lack of shade. They are often found lying unconscious on the ground and some even suffer from heat stroke, which can result in death, if appropriate countermeasures are not taken on time," said Kartick Satyanarayan, Co-Founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS.

The organisation has been spreading awareness among the masses so that the lives of birds and animals around us are saved. The organisation has been urging citizens to keep earthen pots filled with water and food on roadsides, balconies and terraces to help the birds and animals in localities get enough water and food in the summers to keep their bodies hydrated and avoid heat strokes and dehydration.
