The Delhi government has approved basic amenities infrastructure projects at slum clusters across the Capital on Friday. The development comes days after the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced to speed up the developmental work in all unauthorised colonies of the city.

The decision was taken during the 22nd board meeting of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIIB), chaired by CM Kejriwal, who also holds the position of the board’s chairperson. The board decided to prepare a consolidated estimation for the completion of construction and repair work of pavements and drains in all the 750 JJ clusters in the Capital. “This work will be completed in one year time and Delhi government will provide funds for these repairs and constructions,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government said in a statement.

The board also decided to engage professional agencies to maintain all the 414 Shishu Vatikas, primary schools for girls, in these clusters. Besides, it also gave a nod to the proposal to establish open gyms in all the Shishu Vatikas. “A 6-acre park will be developed at Tilak Vihar first,” it said.

The allotment of additional land of 1.18 acre to Department of Directorate of Health Services, GNCTD at Madipur for a hospital got a green signal from the board. “It was also decided to allot more spaces for the opening of Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics on DUSIB lands/properties,” the government said.
