A 32-year-old man duped the Noble-Socio Scientific Welfare Organization (NSSWO), on the pretext of providing them land for residential flats, and sold them a forged land that he had earlier sold four times. He was arrested by the Delhi Police on Thursday. The NSSWO comprises of 30 professors of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Police said the man has, so far, earned more than Rs 6 crores by selling the same land repeatedly in the past five years.

The accused was identified as Hitesh, a resident of Sector-10A in Gurugram, Haryana. Senior police officers said that the accused lived an extravagant life and spent all his money on foreign trips, for buying luxury cars and lived in a lavish rented house.

According to police, the forgery came to light when Dr PD Gaikwad, president of NSSWO, informed the police that on September 28, their organisation entered into a Joint Development Agreement with the accused to purchase residential flats in proposed ‘L’ Zone.

“Gaikwad said the accused gave them assurance that the said land is his ancestral agriculture property and is free from all kinds of encumbrances. As per the agreement, the complainant paid Rs 1.44 crore to the accused as advance money. It was only then that the complainant came to know that the accused had already executed two more agreements to sell the same property to two different parties,” said Shibesh Singh, DCP, Dwarka.
