CBSE Class XII results: DTC bus driver's son tops Delhi government schools

Prince Kumar, son of a DTC bus driver and Science student, emerged as the Delhi government schools' topper with 97 per cent marks. Kumar secured 100 per cent marks in Maths.

For the third time in a row, Delhi government schools have performed better than private schools. The government schools outperformed its own pass percentage this year by 2.37 per cent in CBSE Class 12 exams. The passing percentage of the government schools was 90.64 per cent against the last year's tally of 88.27 percentage.

Hailing students for their achievement, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia took to the Twitter, saying, "Congratulations to all students, teachers & parents for making us proud in CBSE class XII results. Delhi govt school's result is 90.64 per cent which is 2.37 per cent higher than last year which was 88.27 per cent."

The passing percentage of government schools was 90.68, which is 2.33 per cent higher than private schools' 88.35 per cent. "I congratulate all teachers and students of Delhi government schools for performing better than the private schools," Sisodia said.

In fact, the gap between the passing percentage of government and private schools was 9 per cent, last year.

Taking a dig at L-G Anil Baijal and the BJP government at the Centre for 'creating' hurdles for the AAP government, CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "This is despite all obstacles created by L-G, BJP ad PM. Congratulations to all students, teachers and principals."

Maintaining the trend, girls performed better than boys in Delhi, as well. The pass percentage of girls was 88.31 per cent against 78.99 per cent of boys.

Of the 112,826 students who appeared in the exam, 102,260 have passed. According to Delhi government officials, premier Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas (RPVVs) have outperformed the Central government's Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs). RPVVs pass percentage is 99.79 per cent and that of KVs stood at 97.78 per cent.
