The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for "deceiving" people by giving municipal poll ticket to a crorepati candidate and projecting her as a "slum dweller".

Sunita Kaushik, 40, will fight on a BJP ticket from the Inderpuri constituency. State BJP President Manoj Tiwari had met her during his stay in west Delhi's Todapur slum. Later, her election affidavit revealed that she had two houses and jewellery worth Rs 90 lakh.

In an affidavit submitted to the State Election Commission along with her nomination, Kaushik disclosed that she owned two buildings, measuring 720 sq ft and 553 sq ft, whose market prices were Rs 50 lakh and Rs 32 lakh, respectively. "The information that has come to light is shocking. Tiwari gave a ticket to a millionaire while presenting her as a slum dweller. It is not wrong to have a millionaire as a candidate, but in this case, this was just a stunt," Delhi AAP Convener Dilip Pandey said.
