65-year-old woman raped in Greater Noida

A 65-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an armed criminal after she resisted a robbery bid inside her house in Dankaur area of Greater Noida on Friday afternoon.

According to the police, the complainant stated that she was sitting outside her house with her daughter-in-law when two armed men on a bike came to them and asked to hand over their jewellery and valuables to them.

"The complainant said that she along with her daughter-in-law fled inside the house in order to save themselves. However, the criminals followed them," said a senior police officer.

The old lady told the police that one of the two criminals took her inside a room and raped her at gun point.

"The two later fled the house. The elderly woman narrated the ordeal to her son and later filed a police complaint," said a senior police officer.

Police have registered a case under section 376(rape) and 392 robbery of the Indian Penal Code and have launched an investigation into the matter.

A similar robbery attempt was made just 15 minutes before the alleged rape in the same area. Police suspect it to be the handiwork of the same criminals.
