2 men steal Belarusian's camera, arrested

The police raided their residence at the Nizamuddin village and arrested Abdul Samad, 22, and Salman, 21, arrested while the juvenile was apprehended by the police and later sent to a correctional home.

Three persons were apprehended for allegedly snatching the camera of a Belarusian national who was clicking pictures while on her visit to the Humayun tomb in South-East Delhi area. The woman was travelling along with her husband who was on some business work.

According to the police, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the woman identified as Volha Thomas, a photographer by profession, desired to click the picture of Humayun's Tomb. While she entered the monument her husband stood at the main gate of the tomb.

"She was clicking pictures inside the tomb when two men came from behind and snatched her camera," said a senior police officer.

She later informed the police who then registered a case under section 356 ( Assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) and 379 (Punishment for theft) at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.
The police team searched several places and interrogated various persons. Their efforts finally bore fruit when they received an input regarding those involved in the crime.

The police also recovered the camera from their possession. The price of the camera was around Rs five lakh.

Thomas works as a professional photographer and provides services for local events in Belarus. Her husband works as a manager for the company MACE which is a communication vendor of reliance. Her husband was travelling for work to India and she was accompanying him.

Incident

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the woman identified as Volha Thomas, a photographer by profession, was clicking the picture of Humayun’s Tomb when two men came from behind and snatched her camera.
