Indian head coach Ravi Shastri once again made the headline for a controversial statement when Virat Kohli’s India scripted history on Monday by becoming the first Asian side to win a Test series in Australia.

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Shastri termed the 2-1 victory in the Border-Gavaskar series Down Under bigger than his the triumph in the 1983 World Cup.

“I will tell you how satisfying it is for me - 1983 World Cup 1983, 1985 World Championship, this is as big or even bigger because this is in the truest format of the game. It is in Test cricket, which is meant to be the toughest," Shastri said.

Considering Shastri has time and again called the current Indian team to be the best-ever and has always received criticism for the same, his latest statement did not go down well with the Indian fans and they blasted the former skipper on social media.

In the same press conference, Kohli termed the victory moment to be very emotional. “This moment is more emotional for me because I have seen how difficult it is to win here. We badly wanted to win a series away from home. We as a team feel absolutely complete now,” he said.
