Firm conditions developed at the wholesale pulses market today as most of pulses led by gram and arhar flared up by up to Rs 300 per quintal on brisk buying by stockists following pick up in demand.

Traders said increased buying by stockists, driven by pick up in demand from retailers against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in prices.

Higher enquiries from dal mills also fulled the uptrend, they said.

In the national capital, gram, gramdal local and best quality shot up by Rs 300 each to Rs 5,700-6,500, Rs 6,400- 6,800 and Rs 6,800-6,900 per quintal, respectively. Kabuli gram small variety followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 9,800-11,000 per quintal.

Arhar and its dal dara variety too finished higher by Rs 300 each to Rs 4,300 and Rs 6,200-8,000 per quintal.

In line with overall trend, urad and its dal chilka local jumped up by Rs 300 each to Rs 4,800-5,800 and Rs 4,900-5,000 per quintal respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya enquired higher by the same margin to Rs 5,000-5,500 and Rs 5,400-5,700 per quintal.

Moong and its dal chilka moved up by Rs 200 each to Rs 4,800-5,500 and Rs 5,500-5,700 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 6,100-6,600 and Rs 6,600-6,800 per quintal.

Masoor small and bold went up by Rs 200 each to Rs 3,850 -4,050 and Rs 3,900-4,150 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired higher by the same margin to Rs 4,150-4,650 and Rs 4,250-4,750 per quintal.

Malka local and best quality gained Rs 200 each to Rs 4,300-4,500 and Rs 4,400-4,600 per quintal. Moth and rajmah chitra rose by Rs 200 and Rs 100 to Rs 3,500-3,900 and Rs 7,800-10,100 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's pulses rates (in Rs per quintal): Urad Rs 4,800-5,800, Urad Chilka (local) Rs 4,900-5,000, Urad best Rs 5,000-5,500, Dhoya Rs 5,400-5,600, Moong Rs 4,800-5,500, Dal Moong Chilka local Rs 5,500-5,700, Moong Dhoya local Rs 6,100-6,600 and best quality Rs 6,600-6,800.

Masoor small Rs 3,850-4,050, bold Rs 3,900-4,150, Dal Masoor local Rs 4,150-4,650, best quality Rs 4,250-4,750, Malka local Rs 4,300-4,500, best Rs 4,400-4,600, Moth Rs 3,500-3,900, Arhar Rs 4,300, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 6,200-8,000.
