Whoaa! Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety beats Akshay Kumar's Pad Man to become the 2nd highest grosser of the year

After the extremely successful Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise, Luv Ranjan's latest offering Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has set new records at the ticket windows. The film that stars Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh in the leads has now beaten Akshay Kumar's Pad Man at the box office to become the second highest grosser of the year 2018 so far. 

The bromance vs romance comedy has gone on to rake in a total or Rs 82.10 crore at the box office in 16 days which is more than the lifetime collections of Pad Man which managed to mint a total of Rs 81 crore in total. SKTKS now stands next to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historic drama Padmaavat which stands tall with a whopping total of Rs 290 crore at the box office. 

SKTKS has been successful in attracting footfalls despite facing tough competition in terms of screen count from recent releases like Pari, Hate Story IV, Dil Juunglee and 3 Storeys. While the Akshay Kumar starrer couldn't pass the second week test and saw a huge dip in its collections in its second week, SKTKS managed to soar high with flying colours in it's second week. Curently, it's the third week of the film and it is still rock steady at the ticket windows.

Going by this pace, we won't be surprised it SKTKS managed to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club as well, a feat which Pad Man couldn't achieve.
