Watch: Varun Dhawan celebrates 31st birthday with 'Kalank' co-star Alia Bhatt

Bollywood star Varun Dhawan ringed in his 31st birthday on Tuesday and revealed on Instagram that he sacrificed his cake this year as he was working out for his role in Karan Johar's upcoming film, Kalank. The actor posted a picture of him and captioned the pic as, “Birthday workout #nocake #KALANK @prashantsixpack”

But it seems it didn't take long for Varun to cheat on his diet already. In a recent video that went viral, Varun can be seen cutting his birthday cake as Alia Bhatt sings ‘Happy Birthday’ for him. Well, we wonder if Varun actually ditched the cake or not as the Kalank team made his birthday all the more special.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank will be Varun and Alia's fourth collaboration. The cast also includes the timeless beauty, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, along with youngsters, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and above all, it has the towering Sanjay Dutt.

Talking about the film, Karan said in a statement, “We are extremely excited about Kalank, an epic drama with a solid beating heart! The coming together of this formidable and fantastic cast makes this big-event film exceptionally exciting. Abhishek’s exemplary vision and our prolific partners — Fox Star and Sajid — make this movie even more special.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Varun was last seen opposite Banita Sandhu in Shoojit Sircar’s October.
