Katrina Kaif has starred in a number of blockbusters like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, and more. Her chemistry with Salman Khan in the hit film Bharat was much appreciated by the fans, however, do you know that she was not the first choice for the role?

Yes, Katrina Kaif once revealed in an interview that she was not the first choice of filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar opposite Salman Khan in Bharat. The role was earlier offered to another actress who has not only made her mark in Bollywood but has also won hearts in Hollywood. She is none other than Priyanka Chopra.

In an interview, Katrina Kaif said, "When you ask me about the changes that people are noticing in me, the primary reason for that is the character that I'm playing. Ali writes interesting roles for me and I'm super fortunate to have characters like the ones in Zero and Bharat." She further added, "Although I wasn't Ali's first choice and it was Priyanka (Chopra), I'm happy it has come to me. When I read the character of Kumud, I felt there was so much I could do in it and I wanted to immerse myself completely into it. I just hope that I keep getting to play such exciting characters that have enough meat in them."

She also opened up about working with Salman Khan again and said, "The best thing about me and Salman coming together to work is that there's no sense of us taking it for granted. We don't go to the sets thinking, 'dekhte hai.' He knows that I'm going to come after putting 1000% of my time and effort behind finding the character and doing my prep. He has that confidence in me and I know when he comes, he's going to come up with something unique."

Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat starred Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, and Sunil Grover among others. The film was made in Rs 165 crore and collected Rs 321 crore worldwide.

Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif's much-awaited film Merry Christmas has finally hit the theatres and has opened to positive response from critics as well as Bollywood celebrities. Apart from Katrina, the Hindi version also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kanan, and Tinnu Anand in key roles. The film is helmed by Sriram Raghavan and is shot in two languages.
