It's a known fact that Vidya Balan's National Award-winning performance in The Dirty Picture was earlier offered to Kangana Ranaut. The film which released in 2011 is directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor. Kangana had mentioned in an interview with DNA that she chose Tanu Weds Manu over The Dirty Picture and people called her 'stupid' in doing so. Now, during an interaction, Kangana praised Vidya for delivering a terrific performance in The Dirty Picture.

When asked about any regret on turning a film down, Kangana told ETimes, "Not really. But I think The Dirty Picture, just like I always said, turned out to be so wonderful! But I don’t think I would have done it better than Vidya Balan because she was terrific in that. But yes, sometimes I feel that I didn’t see the potential in that film. I was not given anything on the platter."

The actor added, "Though I failed to see the opportunity in The Dirty Picture, I don’t regret it."

Back in 2015, Kangana had said, "I choose Tanu Weds Manu over The Dirty Picture. And to date, people call me stupid for losing out on The Dirty Picture. But when you lose some, you win some too. I have taken multiple risks in my career. Even though on one hand, there was Balaji and Milan Luthria (one of the most powerful director-producer combos today), I opted to do Tanu Weds Manu with a relatively new director (Aanand L Rai), who had a limited budget."
