It came as a shock for everyone when Abhishek Bachchan suddenly backed out of JP Dutta's next titled Paltan at the last moment. The movie is said to be based on the Indo-China war of 1962 and also stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Arjun Rampal, Harshvardhan Rane and Gurmeet Chaudhary among others.

The news of AB Junior walking out of the project was surprising as Dutta had directed him in his Bollywood debut Refugee. Abhishek went on to do two more films with him namely, LOC Kargil and Umrao Jaan.

Some trade sources suggested that Abhishek's friends advised him not to take up Paltan as they felt that the film won't do justice to him as an actor and that he should take up a better project instead. But looks like that is not actually the case.

A source informed the folks at BollywoodLife, "Abhishek was quite kicked about Paltan. However, he realised after a while that Sonu Sood had more screen space than him. That bothered him considerably. When he discussed his apprehensions with Dutta, he told him that while Sonu had more screen time, it was Abhishek who had a better character written for him. Dutta could not convince him and he backed out at the end minute.”

Well, Abhishek has previously worked with Sonu in Farah Khan's Happy New Year and from what we know, the duo is quite cordial with each other. Till now, Bachchan junior has not given a clarification on the matter.
