A ward boy of an ESI Hospital in the city was bludgeoned to death by his wife, after she suspected him of having an illicit with another woman.

The incident occurred on March 8 around 6.30pm after victim Basavaraju returned from his work. The couple had a heated argument over his alleged relationship and in a fit of rage she attacked him, resulting in his death.

The the accused, Kamala alias Kaveri, was arrested on Friday and sent to judicial custody on charges of murder and misguiding the police by filing a false complaint.

Initially, after murdering him, Kamala had claimed innocence and filed a complaint stating that her husband’s paramour was responsible for his murder.

In her complaint, Kamala had alleged that though her husband was on leave, he still went to work. On his return, he received two calls and stepped out of the house after which, he could not be spotted in the vicinity. Later, around 6.30pm, their daughter found him lying unconscious near the bathroom outside their residence. With the help of her relatives and neighbours, Basavaraju was rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead, Kamala claimed.

Kamala, in her complaint, had also alleged that her husband was having an illicit relationship with a nurse.

Police interrogated Kamala, the nurse and her husband. Following intense interrogation, Kamala confessed to crime.

She told police that after Basavaraju returned from work, they had a fight over his illicit affair.

As the argument intensified, in a fit of rage, she attacked him using a cricket bat, leaving him with severe injuries on his head and bleeding from ears. He succumbed on the way to hospital.
