Feeling confused over the state government’s recent announcement calling on LPG consumers to submit documents? Fear not.

Food and civil supplies minister Shobha Karandlaje announced that the department has introduced simple procedures to submit the documents.

You can either send the copies of the documents along with the LPG consumer number to the department through registered post or fax or even submit the scanned copies on the department website.

“That way, you can avoid long queues,” Karandlaje said.
LPG users were asked to submit copies of the ration card and the most-recent electricity bill. Those who do not possess a ration card can submit the electricity meter RR number of their residence to the LPG distributors, Karandlaje said, pointing out that February 10 is the deadline.

The minister made it clear that the move has nothing to do with the gas connection. “This process is basically to eliminate bogus ration cards. But gas agencies are creating unnecessary confusion. People needn’t panic. There is also a misconception that the consumers have to be residing in their own house, not necessarily,” she said.

Though the earlier notification had talked of cancelling the APL ration cards of those who fail to furnish the documents to the LPG distributors and stopping the cylinder supply, Karandlaje assured that supply will not be stopped, as of now.

Karandlaje received death threat?

Shobha Karandlaje has reportedly received threats from the gas mafia . The mafia, allegedly, warned her that she will meet the same fate as Yashwant Sonawane, the additional DC of Nashik who was burnt alive on Jan 25.
