Gowda also met prime minister Manmohan Singh to invite him to inaugurate the commercial operations of Bangalore Metro and dedicate it to the nation.
“He has been kind enough to confirm his availability on September 15 onwards for this purpose. This date is of particular significance because it is on this day that Engineers’ Day is observed, commemorating the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesveraya, who hails from our state. As you are aware, he is held in high esteem across the country and in the world,” Gowda said, after meeting the prime minister in Delhi.
The chief minister in a letter to Trivedi said that the final stage of safety certification is the only pending requirement. “The matter has already been examined in your ministry during the process of the formulation of Schedule of Dimensions, conduct of oscillation, and EBD trials,” he said in his letter.
“Necessary documents have been sent to the commissioner of Metro railway safety for onward transmission to the ministry of railways through chief commissioner of Railway Safety, Lucknow.
Advance copies of the documents have also been sent to the ministry. Your intervention at this crucial stage is requested for grant of the above quoted sanctions to enable opening of the line by the prime minister on September 15,” stated the letter written by chief minister to the ministry of railways.
