The unsuspecting man got out of his car looking for it while the gang decamped with Rs12 lakh cash from the unsuspecting victim near Mantri Square mall on Sampige Road on Friday.

The incident occurred around 12.30 pm when two unidentified persons informed Kumar, 41, a resident of Rajajinagar, that his car parked outside needed to be moved to create parking space for another vehicle.

Kumar and his family members were in hotel Krishna Bhavan when the Hindi-speaking duo approached him.

In his complaint with Sheshadripuram police, Kumar stated that he was about to move his car when another man, speaking in Kannada, informed him about money falling from his pocket on to the road.

Kumar found three Rs10 notes on the road and stepped out of his car to fetch them. After getting back, he found the a laptop bag containing Rs12 lakh cash missing from the car.

Kumar immediately went back to the hotel, but did not find the two men who had earlier asked him to move the car.
