A new twist has been added to the cases of alleged corruption against chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, as advocate Sirajin Basha, on Tuesday, moved the high court pleading that the stay on the Lokayukta probe against the chief minister and members of his family be lifted.

Earlier, Basha had filed five private complaints against the chief minister and members of his family in the lower court.

Governor HR Bhardwaj had accorded sanction for prosecution for the alleged offences, under Section 405 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code, and under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The additional civil and sessions judge on March 24 ordered the Lokayukta police to probe the matter.

The chief minister’s son-in-law Sohan Kumar, also named in the cases of alleged corruption, challenged the lower court’s order seeking the Lokayukta probe in the high court. On March 29, the high court stayed the Lokayukta special court’s order seeking inquiry.

Basha had then moved the Supreme Court, challenging the high court order granting the stay. The Supreme Court bench, on April 29 directed Basha to move the HC for vacating the stay order.
The case is likely to come up for hearing before the vacation bench on Thursday.
