JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy had given his approval to the comedian to stand for election, pointed out Kaveripura ward corporator R Prakash. He said the actor met Kumaraswamy at the latter’s guest house.
A month after the murder of Gandhinagar ward corporator S Nataraj, Kannada actor and comedian Bullet Prakash has approached the JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday for a ticket for contesting the election in the next bypoll for the Gandhinagar ward.
According to the Kaveripura ward corporator R Prakash, Bullet Prakash met Kumaraswamy at his guest house near CV Raman Road at Sadashivanagar, along with the former MLA of Chickpet PC Prakash.
Bullet Prakash, who became popular for his comic roles in Kannada cinema, has also co-produced Aithalakadi, which was released recently.
R Prakash said that Kumaraswamy had given his nod to Bullet Prakash, as the former MLA influenced the candidature.
While JD(S) has already decided their candidate according to corporator Prakash, the Congress has decided to support deceased corporator’s widow Devika. Sources said that the Congress wants to contest the victim’s wife to gain sympathy vote and win the bypolls. There are also reports of former corporator and former chairman of the health committee Ashok B Dani contesting the election. R Murugan, owner of Murugan Arts in Seshadripuram who was arrested for killing the corporator, has named Dani for supporting him to eliminate Nagaraj during interrogation.
Ruling party leader BR Nanjundappa said that no candidate has been finalised for the election, as the bypoll will be held only after six months. “There is still time for the selection of the candidate. The party high command, along with in-charge ministers, will take a decision,” he said.
