Mob fury descended upon one of the five robbers, who threw chilli powder at a woman to rob her of gold jewellery, in Arogya Layout, Sriganda Colony, on Wednesday.

Deputy commissioner of police (West) SN Sidramappa said, “We have arrested the other four. Once the interrogation is completed, the name of the offenders will be revealed.”
The incident occurred at 9.30 pm when Manjula and her mother-in-law were in the house. The robbers, who came in a car, knocked on the door of Manjula’s house. As the unsuspecting woman opened the door, they thew chilli powder in her eyes. The valuables robbed included a gold chain, gold bangles and earrings.
The miscreants were done in by Manjula’s cries for help. Neighbours rushed to the house to find the robbers at the doorstep with their booty. Four of them managed to
escape.
Manjula told the police that the robbers first come to the house around 8 am, asked for her husband Sriram, a businessman.
She told them that Sriram was not present in the house. The robbers told Manjula that Sriram had offered jobs to them. Manjula closed the door telling the miscreants that she was not aware of such an offer.
The gang returned at 9.30am and assaulted her. As Manjula resisted, the robbers could grab only pieces of her gold chain and bangle.

In a similar case, miscreants struck at a house and made away with gold chain weighing 25 gm in Cholurpalya on Wednesday.
In her complaint, Lakshmi, 35, told Magadi Road police that a person came to her house at 11am and threw chilli powder in her eyes.
