For those who always wanted to make cookies at home or even bake a cake, this was a perfect day. AB Mauri, a global yeast and bakery ingredients company, has just what you need.

The company, which launched its range of home packs for those who love to bake but lack the skill sets to do it, has a baking institute in Jigani where anyone can walk in and learn to bake—all free of cost.

“We have an institute in Jigani where bakers can walk in, spend time with our experts and learn the art of baking. This is free of cost,” said Binu Verghese, executive director, AB Mauri India . He was speaking at the Bake with Mauri, 2011, Carnival, which kicked off on Monday.

The carnival showcased Mauri Home Made Goodness products to 110 participants from the city, who came from all walks of life.

“This carnival is mainly for home makers who like to bake for the kids or the family. Our products have been in existence in India from 1985, but we have only catered to industrial bakers such as Pizza Hut, Dominos, Britannia, Parle and even Nestle. Now, we want to encourage home baking and hence this carnival,” Verghese said.

Some of the products are also microwave-able to suit Indian kitchens, which do not have a conventional oven to bake. “We have doughnut mixes, cookie mixes, muffins and brownies, which are all microwave-able. Since, we have a large population of vegetarians in the country, we have catered to them too with our range of egg-free brownies and cakes,” he said.

The company also has a baking SOS service for those experiencing baking catastrophes, which may occur at your homes, even at 2 am.

“If you are using our product and the icing falls apart, or the cake is not baking well, or any kind of baking emergency, we will send one of our staff members to your place to help you with the situation,” he said. The service is free of cost.

The carnival ended with a cake decoration competition for those homemakers and home bakers who had experienced the live demonstration of making cakes and decorating them.
