Air commuters were also at the receiving end due to the six-hour-long protest called by lawyers on Tuesday.

Several passengers missed their flights due to the massive traffic jam at the Mysore Bank Circle and the surrounding areas.

Rajashekar, who was scheduled to travel New Delhi on a business trip, missed his flight as he was held up for about two hours near Mysore Bank circle.

“Though I left home well on time to board my flight, which was scheduled to depart at 1.30 pm, my cab did not move an inch for about two hours,” he said.

Another New Delhi-bound passenger, Sashikanth, said he could not make it on time to the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) as he was stuck in traffic for four hours.

“I had an important business engagement in New Delhi which I had to attend today at any cost but the protest has ruined it,” he said.

Another passenger who missed his flight was furious that the police authorities let the protest take place in the first place.

“How can the police allow the protesters to hold (up) the city to ransom and disrupt the traffic? Those responsible for this mess should be taken to task or else how can the common man have faith in authorities,” he asked.

Manjunath, general secretary, Bangalore Maxi Cab Association, said that over 100 cabs were stranded near Mysore Bank and the surrounding areas.

“Many of our customers are businessmen and Non-Resident Indians who had to board flights, but, the protest resulted in many of them missing their flights,” he said.

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s  (BMTC) airport shuttle service, Vayu Vajra, was also hit by the strike and the traffic jam.

BMTC chief traffic manager (operations), MP Prabhudas, said that at least four Vayu Vajras were stuck in the traffic, which could have resulted in more than a few passengers being late or missing their flights.

Though the stuck vehicles were diverted to other routes, due to heavy traffic on the diversion routes vehicular movement was very slow.

Though several passengers missed their flights, airport and airlines officials said that no flights were delayed due to the protests.
