The high court has directed the chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to be present in the court on June 12 during the hearing of a case on the alleged illegal construction of an industrial shed in a residential area at JC Nagar.

The petitioners, BLG Dayanand and 12 others, residents of JC Nagar, alleged that the construction of an industrial shed was posing health threat to people.

They were facing problems related to water and noise pollution because of repairs of cars by Shahwar Motives Private Dealer in Karnataka Limited.

The shed is located in ward number 62 near Nandidurga Road behind Canara Bank.

The division bench headed by chief justice Vikramanjit Sen observed that despite services, there had been no representation of the chairman of the pollution control board.

“Objections have not been filed filed. In these circumstances, we direct the chairman of KSPCB to be personally present in the hearing on June 12,” the bench said.
