Krishna Chaitanya of Deeksha PU College has secured the first rank in Karnataka in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), the results of which were announced on Sunday.

The second and third spots in the state went to Abhilash S and Srinivasan R, respectively.

About 11,14,880 candidates registered for the examination and of that 10,53,832 appeared in the test held in about 1,600 centres across the nation.

Confusion prevailed on the first day of the examination due to question paper leakage in Kanpur and the test was postponed by two-and-a-half hours. The timing clashed with other entrance examinations like that for Armed Forces Medical College.

Consequently, many students were unable to appear in the examinations.

The Central Board of Secondary Education decided to conduct re-examination for those students who were unable to attend AIEEE on May 11.
