Former IT&BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, whose bail petition was rejected by the high court on Tuesday, is likely to stay in Victoria Hospital for another two weeks.

Doctors at the hospital said that Naidu is recovering.

TH Lakshminarayana, chief superintend of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, where Naidu was jailed on August 8 after a special Lokayukta court remanded him to judicial custody, confirmed that he was likely to be in the hospital for two weeks.

“But if doctors discharge him before that, he will have to come to the jail,” Lakshminarayana said.

The former minister’s leg was swollen after he fell while climbing the steps in the D block of the jail. Tests were conducted at Jayadeva Hospital and doctors did not find anything serious.

He was sent back to the jail. Naidu then complained of stomach ache and was rushed to Victoria Hospital at midnight August 21. Sources said that Naidu’s doctor had forced the officers to shift him to the hospital.  Katta’s doctor used to visit the jail
and used to bring medicine from outside.

Katta is in the VVIP special ward of Shatamanotsava Bhavan in Victoria Hospital. The ward has a colour TV, AC, fan, cushion sofa, two sophisticated beds, among other amenities. Naidu reportedly rejected TV and other facilities after the media reported that he was receiving special facilities there.
