Nithyananda landed in a controversy in March after local TV channels aired purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.

The Karnataka high court today adjourned hearing in the bail petition of self-styled godman Nithyananda Swami, arrested on criminal charges including rape, to June eight.
When the case came for hearing before justice Subhash B Adi, the CID police sought more time to conduct investigation.
However, Nithyananda's counsel contended that there were "no victims or witnesses" in the case and it was admitted by the investigating agency.
After hearing the arguments of both sides, justice Subhash Adi adjourned the hearing to June 8.
Meanwhile, a writ petition filed by the counsel against freezing of bank accounts of four trusts, of which Nithyananda is a trustee, was adjourned to June 4.
Also, the judicial custody of Nityananda which ended today has been extended till June 9.
