Kannada actor ends life after killing wife

Kannada actor Indudhar, 49, allegedly committed suicide after smothering his wife Hemalatha, 38, to death at their house in Jayanagar on Wednesday.

Police were suspecting that marital discord and financial difficulties forced Indudhar to take the extreme step. The couple, married for 10 years, was issueless.

In a suicide note left behind, the actor said he had failed to realise his dreams in life and hence he was ending his life.

Police officials said that the incident might have taken place in the morning, though it came to light only after a relative reached their house in 13th Cross, 4th Main around 4 pm.

“Hema’s two friends had gone to the house in the evening around 4 pm. They rang the bell for a long time and also tried calling her on her cell phone.

When there was no response, they called the couple’s relative Umesh, who forced open the door and found them dead,” inspector Lokesh Kumar of Jayanagar police station said.

Police said Hemalatha’s body was found lying on a bed, while Indudhar’s body was hanging from a ceiling fan. The bodies were shifted to the KIMS Hospital, where post-mortem examination would be conducted on Thursday.

“I have known Indudhar for the past 25 years. They were an adventurous pair, and cordial to each other. I really don’t understand what disturbed him so much that ended his life,” theatre personality YK Mudukrishnan said.

Indudhar, an engineer, was attracted by the tinsel world and debuted in Sandalwood with Shruthi. He had acted in several movies and television serials.

He shot to fame with his performances in Annayya, Nishkarsha, Anukool Kobba Ganda and Shruthi.

Hemalatha was a costume designer, who wanted to become a director. Indudhar had hoped to produce her movies.
