Home alone widow raped, robbed and murdered in Bangalore

The deceased is identified as Jayamma, a vegetable and flower vendor in Nayandalli. She was allegedly killed by an unidentified gang.

A 43-year-old widow was found dead in her home in Pantarpalya on Mysore Road on Monday afternoon.

The deceased is identified as Jayamma, a vegetable and flower vendor in Nayandalli. She was allegedly killed by an unidentified gang. The police said Jayamma had brutal injuries on her face and the culprits had strangulated her to death using a wire of a mobile phone charger.

The police suspect that Jayamma was killed after being raped by the gang. The victim’s cloths were torn. A medical report will confirm the cause of death. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

The police said the culprits fled with gold chain worth Rs30,000 that Jayamma was wearing. The incident came to light at 2.30 pm when her son Arun came home for lunch. Jayamma was found in a pool of blood in her bed.

Jayamma was living with her three children. Her husband Annayappa had died long ago. The victim’s two daughters were out on work when the incident occurred, police said. The body was taken to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered in Byatarayanapura police station.

Newly wedded woman succumbs to burns

A 20-year-old newly married woman, undergoing treatment for the burns that she sustained in an accident at her Chamarajpet house, died at Victoria Hospital on Monday.

Manjula, the deceased, was preparing food when the accident took place on Saturday night. She was lighting a kerosene stove. As there was no electricity, she had lit a candle in the kitchen. While she was pumping the kerosene stove, the candle accidentally fell on her. Her saree caught fire and she sustained serious injuries. She was immediately rushed to Victoria Hospital. Manjula had sustained 85% burn in her body.

Manjula was a native of Belur taluk in Hassan district. She was married to Ramesh eight months ago.

The body was handed over to the victim’s family after post-mortem. A case has been registered in the Central police station. Investigations are on.
