Despite delays that Namma Metro has been facing due to litigations, there is some cheer for commuters, especially for those awaiting the completion of the “Green Line” North-South corridor.

The first train that will operate on this corridor arrived at the Peenya depot on April 29. It will run across 25 stations of Reach 3 (Sampige Road to Yeshwanthpur), Reach 3 (a) (Yeshwanthpur to Peenya Industry), 3 (b) (Peenya Industry to Nagasandra), reach 4 (National College to Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road) and reach 4 (a) (Rashtriya Vidyalaya to Puttenahalli).

The train, similar to those running along the Purple line (East-West corridor), can carry at least 1000 commuters.

Even as the first of the trains has arrived, various stations of the North-South line are facing delays, some up to 10 months, according to a BMRCL newsletter.

Though the litigation questioning the construction of a station at Soap Factory was dismissed by the high court, the court has given the litigant three weeks to appeal before the Supreme Court.

BMRCL says the works will commence on May 10, subject to orders from the Supreme Court. The work on this station has been delayed by about 10 months on account of the litigation.

Work related to viaduct in Dasarahalli and 500 metres on Reach 3 (B) has been delayed due to a land acquisition litigation involving the National Highways Authority of India.

Work on the underground section at Minsk Square has also been delayed by about eight months because of land acquisition issue.
“The slow progress of work at this station can affect the overall schedule of the work,” according to BMRCL officials.

However, at Chickpete area, the dismissal of the land aquisition litigation has helped in the speedy progress on the Chickpete station.
