Launching his Dharmasthala Yatra from Ramanagar, JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy addressed a rally on Sunday and threw a challenge to chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, asking him to act on his threat of filing a defamation suit.

“Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa developed cold feet and backed out of the truth test in front of Lord Manjunatha. I am ready to swear before the Lord, even now. All the allegations against Yeddyurappa that I have made are true, and I can swear before the Lord,” Kumaraswamy said, adding that he would not wish ill on Yeddyurappa or his family, and would even pray for the chief minister’s good health.

“I only want the Lord to punish him for his misdeeds. The Yeddyurappa government should go, it has been looting the state,” he clarified.

Kumaraswamy is scheduled to launch a state-wide campaign against Yeddyurappa government from Kudala Sangama after performing puja at Dharmasthala. Under no circumstances would the agitation be withdrawn, he declared.

The former chief minister challenged Yeddyurappa to file the defamation suit at the earliest. “I am not scared of Yeddyurappa’s threats. I will not run from the battlefield. If Yeddyurappa files a defamation suit, I would congratulate him,” he said.
Field day for pickpockets

The JD(S) road show at Ramanagar came as a not-to-be-missed opportunity for seasoned pickpockets. Local MLA K Raju seethed with rage as he found that his purse was missing. He said he lost Rs2,000 in cash. Another local leader, Veerappa, reported a loss of Rs40,000, from his pocket. A party worker, Arun, pushed along by surging crowds, reached for money when he found that the Rs22,000 he was carrying was all gone.
