Two men in their early-20s were killed near a church on Ramamurthynagar Main Road when their tractor toppled upon hitting an electric pole as they were returning home after Ganesha immersion in the wee hours of Saturday.

Malla, 20, and Devanna, 24, were both residents of Vijinapur and natives of Bellary.

KR Puram traffic police said that the incident took place around 2.20am on Saturday.

The driver was rash and rammed the tractor into an electric pole. Both Malla and Devanna fell on the road, while the tractor toppled and fell on them.

The night patrol police found their bodies and informed the traffic police about the incident. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Bowring Hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a group of daily-wage labourers from Bellary had installed a Ganesha idol in Vijinapur, which they took to the KR Puram tank for immersion.

The others left for home in another tractor, while Malla and Devanna left for the lake.

Their families came to know about their death in the morning.
The police have registered a case and handed over the bodies to the relatives after the post-mortem examination at Bowring Hospital.

In an another incident, a 48-year-old security guard, Thimma Shetty, was killed when a mini-truck ran him over in the company premises at Benniganahalli on Friday night, in the limits of KR Puram traffic police station.

Shetty was a resident of Benniganahalli.

The police said the incident took place around 11.15pm when he was on duty and a mini-truck, loaded with soft drinks, reversed and ran him over.

Prima facie, it appears that the driver did not realise the vehicle had hit Shetty, who fell on the ground and was run over.

An accident case has been registered. The body has been handed over to his family members after the autopsy was conducted at Bowring Hospital.
