Amid the political uncertainty, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, on Monday, cleared as many as 55 project proposals that will invest a whopping Rs38,966 crore in the state—in one sitting.

He chaired a State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLC) meeting to approve the projects that propose to create employment opportunities for about 1.1lakh people.

Proposals cleared include expansion of the Toyota Kirloskar car plant near Bidadi, aerospace projects of Wipro and Mahindra, and a project of soft drink giant Pepsico. Of the 55, as many as 24 projects will come up in the rural and urban districts of Bangalore with a total investment of Rs10,576 crore, creating jobs for 43,000 people.

Giving details about the projects after the clearance, state large and medium industries minister Murugesh Nirani said: “Toyota Kirloskar will invest Rs500 crore. Tyco Electronics Corporation, a US-based company that manufactures connector cables and other electrical components in the Devenahalli Industrial Area, will invest Rs595 crore on its project.”

Mahindra Aerospace will set up an aerospace components manufacturing unit in the Narasapura Industrial Area, Kolar district, at Rs284 crore.

IT giant Wipro is too expanding its operations in the aerospace sector. It will build a facility near the Bengaluru International Airport at Rs52 crore.
