An unidentified man clambered onto the roof of a stationary train at Platform No 4 of the City Railway Station and grabbed an overhead power line with shocking result early on Tuesday.
The reportedly mentally unsound man suffered burns, but survived, police said.

He was one of the two persons who gave anxious moments to police and passengers at the railway station during the day.
In the second incident, police personnel faced a tough time in bringing down to earth a 40-year-old man found precariously perched on a high mast - again on platform number four — of the railway station. He, too, was mentally challenged, police claimed.

More shocking in these two incidents was the fact that two mentally unsound persons managed to sneak in and create panic in the busy railway station, considered to be under strict security surveillance.

The first incident was reported around 5 am. The man in his 30s climbed on top the compartment of a train which had arrived from Chennai. He started walking on the compartment, and held the power line. He suffered burns, and was rushed to Victoria Hospital, where he was declared out of danger.
Police were trying to ascertain his identity.

Six hours later, the police were confronted with another tall problem. They found a man sitting on a high light mast.
The man, later identified as Motiram of Odisha, preferred to stroll on the railway tracks, but was shooed away by the public. Perturbed, he climbed on to the high light mast around 11 am and was perched there till 1 pm.
