Defence expo sets tone for investors’ meet

The Global Investors Meet will be held in Bangalore on June 7 and June 8.

The second edition MSME Defexpo 2012 concluded on Sunday with a number of defence and aerospace industries showcasing their products at the exhibition which was part of the three-day defence expo.

The organisers said that the positive response from the defence and aerospace industries indicates that the MSMEs would have opportunities to expand their investment opportunities during the second Global Investors Meet to be held in Bangalore on June 7 and June 8.

M Maheshwar Rao, commissioner for industrial development, said that Defexpo 2012 has given thrust to the defence and aerospace industries and set the tone for the biannual Global Investors Meet at which the MSMEs would be a major draw.

“Defence and aerospace industries will play a prominent role in Global Investors Meet through B2B meetings and other opportunities during the event,” he said.

At Defexpo 2012, leading players in defence, aerospace and homeland security equipment’s and systems showcased their products at the exhibition area which had 738 stalls.

Seminars are on ‘Local strengths for global reach’; ‘The Indian A&D SME transformation ‘and ‘Homeland Security’ was also organised.

Minister for small-scale industries, Narasimha Nayak, at the valedictory function said that state government would make sufficient allocations of MSMEs in the forthcoming budget.

He also said that 3,000 acres has been identified in Yadgir district for MSMEs and small scale industries to set bases.

“We will be creating infrastructure, the MSMEs and small scale industries should come forward and make investments,” he said.
