Upset by the series of defeats in all the elections, Congress party is again preparing to reach out to the people.

As a first step, it is ready to launch a two-month programme Congress Nadige Janara Balige from June 15 to expose the failures of BJP government.

Keeping the next general elections in mind, Congress is preparing for another campaign to energise its cadre and spread awareness about the alleged corrupt administration of BJP government after its successful Bangalore to Bellary padayatra, which strengthened the party base in a few sections.

The new exercise is aimed to connect the party with people at the grass-root level and inform them of the BS Yeddyurappa government’s series of failures. The initiative will be launched simultaneously in all 224 assembly constituencies on Wednesday and will be on for 60 days.

Releasing the handbook Congress Nadige-Janara Balige, meaning Congress march towards the people, G Parameshwar, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), said: “People are fed up of this corrupt government. We will take its failures to the people and create awareness among them. Though the government is claiming that all is well in the state, people, especially farmers, are facing several problems such as shortage of seeds and fertilizers,” he said.

“We will raise all issues, including illegal mining, de-notification, and land scams. We will hold public meetings at the gram-panchayat level and strengthen the party cadre,” he said.
The party has also released a booklet on its contribution to the nation in the past 125 years and the development programmes initiated by its prime ministers, starting from the regime of Jawaharlal Nehru.

It will be organising more than 10,000 public meetings spanning the state in all gram panchayats, targeting people of all villages for its campaign, he said.

In the booklet, Congress has highlighted the scams that have rocked the state BJP government, including the mystery surrounding the death of the wife of Raghupathi Bhutt, MLA, representing Udupi assembly constituency in 2008, H Halappa sex scandal, mining, de-notification, and other issues.
